Information on McLaren and the brand

McLarenThe mclaren brand is firmly established and it extends even further than that of a F1 Motorsport constructor racing team and sports supercar manufacturer. Last June the brand took a new leap forward with the opening of the first McLaren retailer in London, with the highly prestigious street address of 1 Hyde Park, Knightsbridge.

In the opening ceremony at which the hosts included the F1 racing drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton along with Ron Dennis whose current role is the Automotive Executive Chairman, was the occasion for the launch of the new McLaren sports car and the opening of its first London dealership. Also on show were two of the cars in which Lewis had won F1 races along with a display of trophies.

Tesla Roadster
Tesla RoadsterTesla Roadster is the only high performance sports car with zero emission in United States. Tesla is a two seats sports car and is a huge success as it completed a sale of 1200 cars in 28 countries till mid 2010. It is the first car to use lithium-ion battery and can drive a long distance upto 320km in a single charge. The Roadster has also made a world record for its single charge capability during Global Green Challenge. The car also won many renowned global awards for its speed and performance.

The Roadster uses similar kind of lithium-ion cells used in the cell phones and netbooks to provide acceleration from 0 to 60mph under few seconds. The car gives a speed of 125mph with its electric motor placed in between 13,000 to 15,000rpm. The rear wheels are driven by electric motor at 248hp. The engine type is three phase four pole electric and the wheel size is 16 by 6 inches front and 17 by 7.5 inches rear. The material used in wheel formation is forged aluminum.

Nissan Leaf
Nissan LeafNissan Leaf is the latest electric car and will hit the markets by December 2010. It is the world's first mass produced electric car and will reduce upto 40% of carbon emission as compared to petrol cars. Nissan Leaf is awarded as the European Car of the year for the Year for 2011. Leaf is a compact five door hatchback car produced by Nissan and consumes energy around 34kWh per 100 miles.

The battery pack weights 300kg and is together designed by Nissan and NEC. Battery is charged with the Leaf's 3.3kW charger or else by an external charger of 440V.. The car is very supple while driving. Leaf's satellite navigation system is excellent which offers Google maps using 3G SIM card, and its navigation also prompts of the remaining charge in the battery. The car is very well built and is capable of driving at a speed of 81kmh in 31° Celsius heat. The car is designed in V-shape and the headlights are power saving ones, as they consume semi electricity than halogen lamps.
